US house sales increase by 11%, the highest rise in eight years
Elmundo.es | 01/10/2009

WASHINGTON (USA).- There are increasing indications that the property market across the Atlantic is beginning to recover. Sales of new homes in the US recorded an annual figure of 384,000 units, an increase of 11% over the previous month, the highest in eight years. In year-on-year terms, the figure is 21.3% lower than that of June 2008, according to the Department of Trade.

The monthly increase in sales of new build homes coincides with the increase recorded in sales of second hand properties, a monthly 3.6% in June, which indicates that the sector has stabilised to some extent.
